Country Lead Germany (Part-Time)
Ready to revolutionize the way the world organizes sports? We are a team working every day to make sports and activities accessible to everyone.
About Spond
Our goal is to become the number one sports organizing app globally. Every month, 4 million people around the world use Spond to communicate, organize events, and handle payments within their teams and clubs. We are a Norwegian consumer tech company on a mission to build stronger communities through sports. Spond is growing fast. We already have a strong position in our home market of Norway, where 20% of the population use our app monthly, and a rapidly growing user base in international markets. We are now seeking a Country Lead who will drive our expansion efforts in Germany, take full ownership of market growth, and help make Spond the go-to platform for sports organization across the country.
About the Role
As a Country Lead at Spond, you will initially join in a part-time capacity (approximately 50%), with the mission of managing and growing Spond’s user base and presence in Germany. The role is both strategic and operational, involving hands-on testing and developing local go-to-market tactics, with an opportunity to transition into a full-fledged Country Manager role with full P&L responsibility and a dedicated local sales and marketing team.
This is one of the most dynamic roles Spond has to offer, requiring entrepreneurial drive, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-growing environment. You will be the local face of Spond, building relationships, running on-the-ground initiatives, and representing our brand wherever sports communities gather. The position will involve significant travel across the country.
What You’ll Do
Own and execute early go-to-market experiments in Germany, balancing global priorities with local needs.
Host seminars and workshops for clubs and coaches, and represent Spond at federation events.
Promote Spond at tournaments, conferences, and sports gatherings across the country.
Localize user communications and marketing material to ensure a strong cultural and linguistic fit.
Create localized content that resonates with clubs, coaches, parents, and athletes.
Build relationships with local stakeholders, including sport clubs, leagues, and governing federations.
Serve as the main point of contact between Germany and HQ, communicating local insights, market trends, and operational needs.
Identify, test, and scale new initiatives that improve Spond’s value proposition locally.
What You’ll Need
Entrepreneurial spirit: you act like an owner and are highly self-motivated.
Communication and interpersonal skills: you’ll be the public face of Spond in your local market.
A genuine passion for grassroots sports and helping local sports communities thrive.
Comfort with ambiguity, high-growth environments, and rapid change.
High motivation, resilience, and energy.
Fluency in German and proficiency in English.
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience within grassroots sports.
Background in sales or marketing roles.
Experience in consumer tech or community-driven platforms.
What You’ll Get
Competitive salary.
Performance-based bonuses.
A future opportunity for significant equity ownership as the role evolves into a full Country Manager position.
The ability to shape the future of sports in your country.
A fast-paced, collaborative environment with a clear mission and global reach.
Deadline
The deadline is January 25th. We will be reviewing application continuously from January 12.
