Data Analyst
Ready to revolutionize the way the world organizes sports? We are a team working every day to make sports and activities accessible to everyone.
About Spond: Spond is a rapidly scaling product-driven tech company that simplifies life for sports teams, clubs, and volunteers. Our platform is used by millions of people worldwide, streamlining administration, payments, and communication. With over 4 million monthly active users, we are a leader in the sports category on the App Store. Spond is also available internationally and is experiencing strong traction in Norway, the UK, and other markets.
About the role: We’re looking for one highly motivated and proactive Data Analyst to join our team. You’ll work as part of a knowledge hub together with other engineers and analysts, while also being embedded in cross-functional product teams and business units—making a direct impact on Spond’s global growth and monetization. If you’re eager for a role where your work directly influences millions of users and puts data at the core of smarter, more scalable decisions, this is your chance to make a real impact!
You will get meaningful ownership early, with clear expectations and access to engineers and analysts who can help you develop your skills. We value people who take initiative, are able to figure things out independently, and seek help when needed. This is a rare opportunity for early-career talent to gain broad exposure across analytics, product, growth, and strategy in a fast-growing company.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and model data from multiple sources (internal product databases, analytics platforms, surveys, etc.) and consolidate it into accurate, actionable insights.
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations that drive decision-making across the company.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to jointly identify opportunities, validate hypotheses, and measure outcomes.
- Translate complex data into clear business recommendations, influencing product roadmaps and organizational strategies.
- Help educate and enable teams to become more data-driven through development of best practices and tooling.
Formal qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of completed higher education in computer science, statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, or closely related quantitative fields.
- Preferably at least one year of relevant experience in data/business analysis, data science, or data engineering. Strong graduates with relevant academic or project experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Fluent English and Norwegian proficiency required, both written and spoken.
Technical skills
- Strong foundation in mathematics and statistics.
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, etc.) and SQL for data wrangling and analysis.
- Basic understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., Kimball dimensional-modeling) and analytical patterns.
We don’t expect you to already know every tool in our stack, or start out as an expert. What matters most is a strong analytical foundation, curiosity, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. You will get hands-on exposure, training, and support to ramp up on the job.
We consider it a bonus if you have
- Experience with AWS or other cloud environments
- Proficiency with dbt
- Familiarity with Databricks
- Experience using BI tools for building dashboards (Power BI, Looker, Lightdash, Tableau or Omni Analytics)
- Knowledge of code management and deployment best practices (GitHub, devOps or CI/CD)
- Exposure to A/B testing, product metrics, or user funnel analysis
Personal attributes
- Adept at breaking complex problems into clear, structured questions and proposing analytical approaches—even when information is incomplete.
- Skilled at interpreting results and communicating insights to non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working independently and proactively identifying and solving problems.
- Able to prioritize effectively and focus on the work that creates the most impact, even when multiple requests compete for attention.
- Thrives in a fast-moving, diverse environment—proactively seeking out information and collaborating across the organization to drive better outcomes.
- Curious by nature and excited to learn new tools, methods, and domains as the company evolves.
